The Quenhurst Pendant Lamp turns a painted ceramic dish into a shade: a shallow saucer of white porcelain covered inside and out in a green vine-and-leaf pattern. the kind found on old transferware plates. The bulb hangs just below the rim. so light falls straight down onto a counter while the underside of the dish shows its pattern from below. Above the shade. a brass socket with a small turn-key switch is topped by a turned walnut handle. and a twisted fabric cord runs to a brass canopy. Is the pattern painted on both sides?
Yes. The green vine print covers the top and underside of the porcelain dish. so you see it from the table below as well as from the side.
What does the key on the socket do?
It is a turn-key on/off switch built into the brass socket. Twist it to light the pendant without a wall switch — useful when the ceiling box is on a constant-power circuit.
Will the bulb show?
Yes — the dish is only 5cm/2″ deep. so the bulb hangs partly below the rim. A frosted globe or a decorative filament LED looks best.
How low can it hang?
The cord is 150cm/59″ and can be shortened at the canopy during installation. The shade and hardware weigh about 800g/1.8 lb. well within a standard ceiling box.
